Underground artists
(United States: New York City)

October 2002
United States: New York City: Underground artists

New York's subway stations are full of musicians, but Times Square and Penn Station consistently draw the best. During reasonably crowded times of day, you should be able to find all of the following somewhere on these two stations' tunnels and platforms:

  • Chinese man with traditional violin
  • Teenage breakdancers
  • Andean pipe-and-flute band
  • Lone crooner with guitar doing '70s covers
  • Bucket drummer (shown above)
  • Man dancing the tango with puppet woman (trust me, this is better than it sounds)
